HC Alkaloid enters the playoffs with just the two bonus points carried over from the regular season, following the opening derby match for the Macedonian Super League championship. In the first round, HC Alkaloid was the away team against HC Vardar 1961 at the Jane Sandanski arena, where the home side triumphed with a 34-26 victory.
Kiril Lazarov did not have the ideal lineup tonight. The club has been facing a challenging season, juggling its participation in the European EHF Cup and significant contributions to the Macedonian national team, which appears to have taken its toll on the players’ performance.

For about twenty minutes at the start, HC Alkaloid managed to keep pace with their opponents, drawing 9-9 at the 20-minute mark. However, as the first half progressed, the home team began to secure a narrow lead by pulling ahead by two goals.
This gap widened even further at the outset of the second half, which forced HC Alkaloid into a relentless chase throughout the remainder of the game. A drop in focus during the final five to six minutes resulted in an even larger deficit.
Looking ahead, HC Alkaloid is set to host CHC Tikvesh at the Avtokomanda arena on Sunday.
